Blade: The blade of this sword is hand forged and finished with 12 stages of polishing and sharpening. The steel used is high quality carbon steel, which is very pure, and keeps its edge very well.

Clay Tempered: The blade has been clay tempered in order to harden the cutting edge while still allowing the spine to remain flexible. The tempering process imbues the blade with a distinctive Hamon (blade pattern).

The finish on the tang was really rough with deep machine marks so that needed finishing off with a file. The blade rattled badly in the saya so that needed sorting. Having said that though the sword is really good and the hamon on the blade excellent. The sword needed customizing by swapping the alloy fittings for brass ones. The tsuka is very well wrapped and feels good in the hand. I was,nt to keen on the painted saya so sanded that and gave it an antique finish. The sword looks mean now and I,m well pleased with it. For a £200 sword it looks and feels great.

Hi Alan, Thanks for leaving us a review, and also for letting us know about the rattling. This is useful for us to know -- we'll be sure to discuss this with our product team and take it on board so we can improve our processes. Really glad you are happy with it overall though and it sounds like the finishing touches you applied were also fabulous. Thanks and enjoy! - The BladesPro Team
